Raptor Z Pro manual is designed for a first time users.

Raptor Z Pro

RAPTOR Z PRO

Designed for DJI Ronin 2/ Movi Pro tracking vehicle shooting

The Raptor Z Pro arm accommodates payloads of 8-20kgs (17-44lbs), making it suitable for Remote Pan Tilt heads and any 3-axis camera stabilizer like Ronin 2, Movi Pro, or Shotover G1. It is custom-designed to remove high-frequency vibrations & dampens low-frequency oscillations when shooting from moving platforms on rough terrain or paved roads. A finely balanced system of adjustable springs and hydraulic dampers gives you a stable platform to achieve perfect results.

SPECIFICATION

  • PAYLOAD: 8 – 20kgs (17 – 44lbs)
  • Lift range: 73cm (with quick release)
  • Weight: 13kgs/ 28lbs

SAFETY HINTS

ATTENTION: PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE USING IT TO PREVENT SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE GEAR!

  • IT IS RECOMMENDED TO HAVE PROPER SPRING ADJUSTMENTS

For additional tension support, adjust both the spring sets to the same degree of tension.

  • ALWAYS KEEP FINGERS CLEAR FROM ANY OF THE MECHANICAL MOVING PARTS

Operate the Arm from outside of any crossing arms and from the spring shaft.

  • CAREFULLY TIGHTEN THE FASTENERS

When connected to scaffold tabes, ensure that all locking bolts and scaffold clamps are locked securely. It prevents breakage to the equipment & any harm to the crew. It also provides protection & stability.

INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT

Where to mount and configure Raptor Z Pro?

OVERVIEW

  • Step 1: Mount the arm to Speed rail (scaffold) 48 – 51mm
  • Step 2: Install Quick Release (to connect Raptor Z arm and Z Pro Head)
  • Step 3: Install Payload (DJI Ronin 2/Movi Pro + camera set) to Vibration
  • Step 4: Adjust Spring
  • Step 5: Adjust Raptor Z arm Dampener
  • Step 6: Z Pro Head – Tilt Dampener tension pre-setting
  • Step 7: Z Pro Head – Roll Dampener tension pre-setting

Step 1

Mount the arm to Speed rail (scaffold) 48 – 51mm

Mounting the Raptor Z Pro is as simple as clamping it to a standard 48 – 51mm Pole. Connect the Arm on Pole with two single clamps at the back of the arm. Other standard grip components such as Poles and clamps can be mixed to provide different vehicle mounting configurations.

Step 2

Install Quick Release

Pull the safety lock towards the back, and slide the Quick Release Female Unit (on the head) to Male Unit (on the arm) fully. Next: Release the safety lock. If it returns to the original position is correct. Turn the safety pin clockwise tightly.

Step 3

Install Payload to Vibration

Screw mounting:

  • DJI Ronin 2: M8 x 20
  • Movi Pro: M3 x 12

The user can convert to Mitchell-based with added Female Mitchell Mount (optional accessories).

Step 4

Adjust Springs

Loosen the locking nuts of each spring. Use a 13mm wrench (included), turn the leveling springs clockwise to add tension, and raise the arm; turning it anti-clockwise will release tension and lower it. After setting, re-lock the locking nuts of each spring.

NOTE: Adjust both springs equally. The correct position should be at 10-15 degrees

Step 5

Adjust Raptor Z Arm Dampener

To smoothen Spring Tension, turn the adjustment knob. If the arm is too soft, turn it towards the direction of H (Hard). If the Arm is rigid, turn it towards the direction of S (Soft).

NOTE: The valves should always be adjusted evenly and set identically. Rebound and compression of the hydraulic valves should be put in such a way so that any loose swinging or vibration of the arm is eliminated.

Step 6

Z Pro Head – Tilt Dampener tension pre-setting

  1. Mount your gimbal the Raptor Z pro arm before to tune
  2. To smoothen the dampener, turn the adjustment knob (H to S).
  3. Tilt the head until it reaches the stop. The head should NOT swing back and forth but be tensioned just enough to go back into a neutral position. Of course, this tension might be altered depending on road surface and scenario (speed, terrain, and so forth).

Step 7

Z Pro Head – Roll Dampener tension pre-setting

  1. Mount your gimbal the Raptor Z pro arm before to tune
  2. To smoothen the dampener, turn the adjustment knob (H to S).
  3. Roll the head until it reaches the stop. The head should NOT swing back and forth but be tensioned just enough to go back into the neutral position. Of course, this tension might be altered depending on road surface and scenario (speed, terrain, and so forth).
